What is the history of Rainier Watch?
Rainier Watch is an apparel brand inspired by “The Mountain” and when it’s out. The brand started, quite literally, with a tweet. After a long hiatus, the founder moved back to Seattle in 2013 and was inspired by Mount Rainier and those elusive, yet beautiful days when it comes out from hiding. The founder thought that there just had to be a way to know when The Mountain is out. After searching the internet, nothing was found; so the founder decided to make one. In 2013, the first ever Twitter account, Rainier Watch, was started. This account would grow into a brand and community of mountain lovers and watchers. By 2016, the Twitter account was still going, and the founder had some big visions for growth. The founder decided to refine and improve the Rainier Watch brand. The founder teamed up with a designer, Ewnetu, through the internet to help give the concept a new life and together, they created the original RW logo. With that fresh new logo in hand and a bunch of new ideas, things started to get a bit more real. The first official Rainier Watch website was launched in 2017 with some really basic stickers for sale to help cover some of the costs of a website and operations. The Rainier Watch Community started to expand rapidly and gain more legitimacy in 2018. The brand progressed from a DIY shop selling stickers once in a blue moon to Rainier inspired apparel.
